Mediterranean Old World Kitchen in Nassau County
With its massive archway and large cooking hearth, this Mediterranean old world kitchen creates a pre-17th century European feel that makes you just want to bake bread and sip red wine. The classic style of this Nassau County Long Island home called for distinctive architectural details, ornate moulding, and a curved kitchen island. The client wanted to include unfitted cabinetry at the far end of the room, so we created a custom free-standing hutch in a cottage black finish to complement the mini bar and dining table. The raised frameless custom cabinets compliment the two different drawer styles giving this kitchen tremendous character and a Mediterranean feel. The top drawers are Louis Philippe and all others are Regency Flat fronts. The finish is burnished bronze on oak, and the countertops are granite in Rainforest Green. The floors are porcelain, and the hardware is from Top Knobs Normandy Collection (Patine Rouge). The walls are faux finished in a custom mix. Sensuous curves, warm color hues, and texture give this old world kitchen a timeless ambiance. The bronze dancing sculptures and hand-painted tile backsplash add a bit of the clients’ personality to the cooking hearth.
