New York City Apartment Kitchen Maximizes the Space
This New York City apartment kitchen is in the center of two apartments that were merged into one during the renovation. The open floor plan allows family and friends to mingle together from the dining area to the living room to the kitchen. Cabinets are Brookhaven from Wood Mode, fronts are a textured horizontal laminate with the sides in a vertical pattern. Cabinet’s upper doors extend down to allow a clean appearance with no hardware while the base cabinets have integrated pulls.
We designed the sink side with deeper tops to allow for appliances or canisters to be placed on the counter with room to work in front. Other details include an island hood by Futura, Tec lighting, Pental Chroma Lattis quartz, a Franke sink, and a Grohe faucet. Center island was designed around the gas riser, which could not be relocated. The gas cooktop is hidden by the bar-height waterfall quartz top. We designed a movable bench sitting area to allow access to the air conditioning and heating unit. Storage drawers provide a nice place for overflow household supplies. We also designed the apartment’s master bath and kids bathroom. Bar area cabinetry is Brookhaven in a veneered cherry with glass tile for a touch of whimsy. These design nicely divides the kitchen eating area from the dining room–perfect for a New York City apartment kitchen.
