Remember Avocado Green Kitchens?
The New York Times recently talked about the 70’s avocado green kitchens and posted an article about vibrant color coming back into todays kitchen design replacing the all-white kitchen with stainless steel appliances. The article is called “Could the Avocado-Green Kitchen Make a Comback” and you can read the full article here. As a baby boomer who grew up with an avocado green refrigerator, stove, and dishwasher, I am partial and a bit nostalgic as I loved my kitchen growing up. I am all for the color pop.
The article goes on to state that there is an increase in searches online for kitchens cabinets in dark green, blue, and plum colors, and many people have even searched for pink kitchen walls. Are we screaming for a new generation of color? Maybe…and for those more daring and rebellious go for it. We’re happy to help. You can also choose an element or two in your kitchen to give it that color pop. Look through our galleries and see what some of our clients have done in terms of adding color to their kitchens. Below is some color therapy inspiration.
There are so many ways to give your kitchen a blast of uplifting, brilliant color even against neutral or white cabinets. If adding color to your kitchen cabinets is beyond your comfort zone, try introducing it to your appliances, your kitchen utensils, your wall color, fabrics, throw rugs, countertops, or your decorative kitchen accessories. These little touches can change the entire look and feel of your kitchen, and your creativity will bring you much joy. See more of our work here in the kitchen gallery.
